Description

Amanda Speer - The Warp Zone

I am a professional weaver and fiber artist. I established The Warp Zone in 2015 with my partner in life and business, Dain Daller. The focus of my work is hand drafted patterns, with hand woven designs and the use of Ikat dying. My work includes hand woven wall pieces, as well as hand woven hand designed scarves, shawls, and clothing. I was the USA representatives for the World Ikat Symposium in New Delhi, India in 2017, and again in Khon Kaen, Thailand in 2018. My work was later purchased to become a part of the permanent collection of the World Ikat Symposium and has since travelled throughout Southeast Asia, Central Asia, and the subcontinent of India. I have shown my work in India, Thailand, Malaysia, and throughout the USA. I teach many classes in weaving and dying at The Espanola Valley Fiber Arts Center. I have also been building a hand built, self sustaining home for the past ten years. I live and work off-grid in the extremely rural southwest in Abiquiu, New Mexico at my home studio. My home was recently selected to be presented and archived by SPACES, an institute that archives self made art spaces (http://spacesarchives.org/explore/search-the-online-collection/world-boat/).
